Aberfeldy is at one end of Bolfracks Estate. The town has a recreation centre, variety of shops and a choice of welcoming pubs and restaurants to enjoy.
Aberfeldy Watermill Bookshop – is a unique development, bringing together the largest bookshop in the rural Highlands, contemporary art gallery, music and coffee shop. All this is located in a stunning Grade-A listed former watermill set in Aberfeldy.
House of Menzies – Is situated just across the Tay valley from Bolfracks and is well worth a visit offering a selection of contemporary Scottish artists, potters and silversmiths. Over New World wines, and a free tasting and sales bar.
Castles – There are several castles in Highland Perthshire, but the two most visitors will visit are Castle Menzies a spectacular sixteenth century castle, restored by the Menzies Clan Society, once the home of the Menzies Clan Chiefs. Blair Castle ancient seat of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl, with its roots in the 13th century, Blair Castle’s history extends over some 740 years and today it is home of the Atholl Highlanders, Scotland’s only legal private army.
The town of Pitlochry is the largest town in Highland Perthshire is just 25minutes away with its famous Festival Theatre, Pitlochry’s dam and fish ladder with observation chamber is well worth visiting, where some 5,500 salmon migrate each year through the fish ladder to sporning grounds up stream. Blair Castle and Hercules walled gardens make an ideal day out with magnificent displays, deer park, restaurant and gift shop
Highland Perthshire is a unique part of Scotland, where the glens are rich and fertile with beautiful thick woods and majestic trees and the tops of the valleys are rugged moorland. You will find beautiful scenery, great lochs quaint villages, three distilleries, some excellent shopping experiences and ancient castles.
Whisky Distilleries - Aberfeldy is the home of Dewars World of Whisky with a really top class exhibition all about the story of whisky blending and how whisky became today’s popular drink. Pitlochry has the Edradour Distillery on its outskirts and is Scotland’s smallest distillery producing handcrafted malt by traditional methods, Bells Blair Atholl distillery in the town will tell you more about how a modern distillery is run and operated.
The attractions of Edinburgh and Glasgow are just an hour and a half away by car. Inverness and Loch Ness are an hour and a half away to the north. Pitlochry and Dunkeld both have mainline train stations and are only 30mins drive from Bolfracks.
